About Fr. John
our Parish Priest
“Where have you seen God today"?

The Reverend John Crosswaite (“Father John") was called as parish priest to St. James' Clinton in October 2020. For much of 2020, he served as our supply priest. He led worship with us for the first time as our priest November 7 and 8 as we celebrated All Saints. Beginning January 1st, Fr. John will serve as St. James’ priest for three-fourths time. His normal work schedule will be the first three weeks of the month and then he will be off the last week.

Fr. John received a Masters of Divinity Degree from St. Francis Seminary in Milwaukee, WI, and a Masters in Applied Spirituality from the University of San Francisco. From 2017 to 2019 Father John served, as Canon to the Ordinary for Bishop Duncan-Probe, assisting in congregational development — The Learning Communities Initiative —, areas of pastoral care, and connecting with Interfaith Works and local immigrant communities. Father John was called as Rector of the River Parishes of Christ Church, Clayton and St. John's, Cape Vincent in the North Country in 2013. Father John’s background includes serving as a trained one-on-one spiritual director and facilitator of Centering Prayer practice. He is a transplant from Wisconsin and still is an enthusiastic fan of the Green Bay Packers.

Fr. John currently lives in Jamesville, NY. During the Corona pandemic he connects by Zoom and telephone. He leads worship by Zoom from his home or in the St. James church building during live-stream services. In the early months of 2021, he plans to move to Clinton and reside at St. James Rectory.

Parishioners can sign up for “coffee and conversation Zoom meetings with Father John” so he can begin to get to know everyone and parishioners can come to know him better. Meetings are scheduled in one-hour increments. After signing up for a time, you will receive a Zoom meeting link from the church office. Meeting dates and times will be available soon…
